Study based on data from the National Food, Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey, 2015-2016 de Atividade Física (IAN-AF) awarded at the Portuguese Congress on Obesity

 

Andreia Oliveira, researcher of the Epidemiology Research Unit (EPIUnit) of the Instituto de Saúde Pública da Universidade do Porto (ISPUP), was awarded in the 21st Portuguese Congress on Obesity, in the category called "Obesity and Comorbidities", for a work that estimated, for the first time, the prevalence of obesity in all age groups of the Portuguese population.

National food survey reveals the eating habits and level of physical activity of Portuguese

The National Food, Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey shows that most Portuguese do not follow the food wheel.

Among the main errors are the excessive consumption of meat and dairy products and the lack of fruits, vegetables and cereals intake in a sufficient level. In addition, Portuguese have an overconsumption of salt, don’t follow Mediterranean diet and don’t practice exercise regularly, concludes the biggest national food survey and physical activity ever made in the country.
